Huron Perth, ON – The seventh wave of COVID-19 continues in Huron-Perth. Sadly, Huron Perth Public Health (HPPH) is reporting five deaths due to COVID-19, as well as three hospitalizations and six outbreaks in highest-risk settings.

COVID-19 vaccine bookings will open for young children and immunocompromised youth

Huron Perth, ON – On July 21, 2022, the Ontario government announced that COVID-19 vaccine bookings will open for children six months to under five years of age. Parents/caregivers will be able to book an appointment for their eligible children starting on Thursday, July 28.

The decision follows Health Canada’s approval of the paediatric Moderna Spikevax COVID-19 vaccine for children six months to under 5 years of age on July 14, 2022. The vaccine will be administered in two doses, eight weeks apart.

Eligibility for second booster doses of COVID-19 vaccine expands

Huron Perth, ON – On July 13, 2022, the Ontario government announced that it is expanding eligibility for second booster doses of COVID-19 vaccine to all Ontarians aged 18 and over.  Those newly eligible individuals will be able to make an appointment starting on Thursday, July 14. 

A second booster will provide an extra layer of protection to those who choose to be vaccinated and is now also recommended for individuals aged 18 and over who are moderately to severely immune compromised....

Health Unit Holding Vaccine Clinics for Students Born 2007-2009

Huron Perth, ON– Huron Perth Public Health (HPPH) will be holding community vaccination clinics this summer for students born in 2007-2009 to help them stay up to date with routine immunizations. 

The clinics are open to youth who have:

  • Previously received a dose of Hepatitis B (HB) or Human Papillomavirus (HPV), and/or the Meningococcal (MenC-ACYW-135) vaccine and need to complete the series; or
  • Not yet received these vaccines and need to start the series.

Masking to continue for HPPH clinical services and sites

Huron Perth, ON– Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health (CMOH) announced on June 8 that the Class Order on masking in certain indoor settings will expire as of 12 a.m. on June 11, 2022.

Masks will no longer be required in:

  • public transit
  • health care settings (e.g., hospitals, doctors’ offices, clinics that provide health care services, laboratories, specimen collection centres, and home and community care)
