  • As of Tuesday, November 23, Huron Perth has a cumulative total of 2,497 confirmed COVID-19 cases since the beginning of the pandemic. There are currently 33 active cases.
    • There were two deaths last week, bringing the total to 69.
    • There are currently three people hospitalized due to COVID-19.

Horse in Perth County Reclassified as Negative for Rabies

Huron-Perth, ON  ̶  The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has completed further testing on a sample from a horse in Blanshard Ward (Perth South) that recently tested positive for rabies.  As a result of this testing, the positive rabies result has been reclassified as rabies negative.

HPPH to open vaccine bookings for children 5-11 starting Tuesday

Huron Perth, ON – Huron Perth Public Health (HPPH) will open its COVID-19 vaccine appointment booking system for children aged five to 11 years old starting the morning of November 23, 2021.

The decision follows Health Canada’s approval of the paediatric Pfizer-BioNTech (Comirnaty) COVID-19 vaccine on November 19, 2021 for five to 11 year olds.  Children turning five by the end of 2021 (born in 2016) and older are eligible to receive the vaccine.

Huron Perth, ON - Today Health Canada announced approval of the paediatric Pfizer-BioNTech (Comirnaty) COVID-19 vaccine for children aged five to 11 years. 

Huron Perth Public Health (HPPH) is not yet booking appointments for children aged five to 11, but will provide further updates in the days ahead as provincial direction and vaccine supply details are confirmed.  Please do not use the booking system for this age group until HPPH announces that appointments are open.

Health Unit closes indoor dining area of restaurant

Huron Perth, ON - Huron Perth Public Health (HPPH) has closed the indoor dining area of a North Huron restaurant, due to the operator’s failure to comply with a Section 22 Order issued by the Medical Officer of Health on November 5.
