Huron Perth, ON – Huron Perth Public Health is recognizing International Overdose Awareness Day on August 31. This day raises awareness and decreases stigma of drug overdose.

In 2021, lives have been lost due to substance overdoses in Huron and Perth. On International Overdose Awareness Day HPPH joins our community in mourning the loss of those community members, as well as expressing our deep sympathy for their families and friends.

HPPH Vaccination Update: 2009 eligibility, third doses

Huron Perth, ON – Yesterday, the province of Ontario announced that those turning 12 in 2021 are now eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine, as well as a provincial plan to begin offering third doses to select vulnerable populations.

Effective today, August 18, HPPH is offering COVID-19 immunizations to individuals turning 12 in 2021. Individuals born in 2009 or earlier are welcome to attend any clinic, including walk-in clinics.

  • Our most recent data shows that Huron Perth has a cumulative total of 1,959 confirmed COVID-19 cases since the beginning of the pandemic. There are currently 15 active cases.
    • There are no Huron Perth residents in hospital due to COVID-19.
    • The number of deaths due to COVID-19 remains unchanged at 57

Heat Warning issued for Perth County

Perth County - Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for most of Perth County.

Humidex temperatures reaching 40°C are expected for the next three days. High daytime temperatures near 30°C are expected Wednesday and Thursday. High temperatures and humidity may continue Friday.

Warm temperatures above 20°C each night will provide little relief from the heat.

HPPH looking for dog involved in a biting incident in Brussels

Huron County – Huron Perth Public Health (HPPH) is looking for a dog involved in a bite incident that occurred on August 8, 2021, at the Brussels Conservation area. The dog involved was a male German Shepherd, black and brown, and a little over a year old. There was no owner accompanied by the dog and victim was not able to see if the dog had any dog tags on him. The victim was bit when he was walking through the conservation area with his girlfriend.
