Huron Perth Public Health is reminding residents that COVID-19 is still present in our area and it’s important to remain vigilant. “With the current outbreak in one of our retirement homes as well as recent community cases, I am urging everyone to remain vigilant about following public health guidance to limit the spread of COVID-19 and help protect our more vulnerable populations,” says Dr. Miriam Klassen, Medical Officer of Health.

Huron Perth Public Health has learned of four additional positive cases of COVID-19 at Cedarcroft Retirement Home; three of these cases are in residents, and one is in a staff person.
HPPH was also saddened to learn of the passing of another resident at the home. The resident, who was in palliative care, had tested positive for COVID-19. “I’m sorry to hear of this loss,” says Dr. Miriam Klassen. “Our hearts are with the person’s family, friends and caregivers during this time.”

Huron Perth Public Health was saddened to learn of the passing of a resident at Cedarcroft Retirement Home who had tested positive for COVID-19. The resident, who had underlying health conditions, became sick with COVID-19 symptoms last week.
“We are very sorry to hear of this loss,” says Dr. Miriam Klassen, Medical Officer of Health. “Our thoughts are with the individual’s family and friends, as well as with Cedarcroft residents and staff during this difficult time.”

Huron Perth Public Health (HPPH) is providing influenza immunization (flu shot) clinics for children 6 months to under 5 years of age, and their families, who do not have a primary care provider, such as a family doctor or nurse practitioner. To ensure safe physical distancing, an appointment is required.

The number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Huron Perth rose by five today to a cumulative total of 151, with nine active cases. Of the five new confirmed cases, three are residents within the retirement home Cedarcroft in Stratford, which is currently in outbreak and has a total of six confirmed cases as of this morning. Three of the residents are symptomatic and three are not symptomatic at this time; all are in isolation.
