Provincial announcement

  • You have likely seen the provincial shutdown announcement. This was no doubt a difficult decision made by the province, but we are at a critical point in the pandemic. Vaccines are arriving but there is still a ways to go before we can achieve widespread immunity.
  • What we can do now as individuals is to take as many actions as possible to reduce spread of the virus. Please keep to your own households, please maintain 6 feet / 2 metres of distance from anyone not in your household, please wear face coverings wherever distance can’t be kept, and please do not go out if you feel ill.
  • This has been an incredibly difficult year, but we will come to the end of this pandemic and know that every action you take, no matter how small, can make a difference.

COVID-19 vaccine

  • You may have seen late last week the announcement from London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC) and Middlesex London Health Unit (MLHU) regarding the arrival of COVID-19 vaccines
    • LHSC and MLHU advised that doses of the Pfizer BioNTech vaccine are set to arrive in the coming days
    • Health-care workers in local long-term care and retirement homes along with selected hospital staff will be the first in the region to receive the new vaccine
    • LHSC and MLHU announced that they will collaborate with partners, including HPPH. As mentioned previously, HPPH in turn is working with several partners in Huron-Perth and area, using the provincial guidance and ethical framework to arrange vaccinations for the above groups in Huron-Perth.
