HPPH opens COVID-19 vaccination clinics for spring boosters

Huron Perth, ON – HPPH has launched its April COVID-19 vaccination clinics to meet Ontario’s new spring booster recommendations, including a clinic in Stratford on April 11 and one in Goderich on April 12. The April 11 clinic in Stratford will have walk-in availability from 11am to 3pm.

As of April 6, individuals in specific high-risk groups are recommended to receive a spring booster dose if at least six months (168 days) have passed since their last dose or confirmed COVID-19 infection. These high-risk groups are:

  • Individuals aged 65 years and older
  • Residents of long-term care homes, retirement homes, elder care lodges, and other congregate living settings for seniors
  • Individuals aged 18 years and older living in congregate care settings for people with complex medical care needs
  • Pregnant individuals
  • Individuals aged 18 years and older who are moderately to severely immunocompromised
  • Individuals aged 55 years and older who identify as First Nations, Inuit, or Metis, and their non-Indigenous household members aged 55 years and older.

If you are not a member of one of the above groups, and you have already received a COVID-19 booster on or after September 1, 2022, there is no current recommendation to receive a spring booster. However, if an individual aged five and older wishes to receive an additional booster dose they may do so, with informed consent, if at least 6 months (168 days) have passed since their previous dose or confirmed COVID-19 infection.

Layers of protection

Residents are encouraged to continue taking actions to prevent illness spread. Layering actions protect individuals, loved ones, and the community:

  • Stay home if you are sick
  • Screen for respiratory symptoms daily
  • Wear a mask in indoor public settings. Also consider wearing a mask in crowded outdoor settings.
  • Choose outdoor spaces and reduce time in crowded indoor spaces as much as you can. If indoors, choose well ventilated spaces when possible.
  • Stay up-to-date with vaccines
  • Wash hands often
  • Regularly clean high-touch surfaces
  • Keep physical distance when possible, especially indoors.
  • Improve ventilation and filtration in your home and maintain HVAC systems

More information on using layers of protection is available through the province at Protection from COVID‑19 and other respiratory illnesses.
