Huron Perth Moving to Yellow Protect

On February 26, the Ontario government announced that the Huron Perth Public Health region will move from Orange-Restrict to the Yellow-Protect level in the provincial COVID-19 Response Framework. This transition will take effect on Monday, March 1, 2021 at 12:01 am.

“Locally, our COVID-19 numbers have been going in the right direction,” says Dr. Miriam Klassen, Medical Officer of Health. “I’m pleased that a number of outbreaks have ended.  I hope we can maintain these positive trends.”

The limits on social gatherings remain 10 people indoors and 25 people outdoors.  Although getting together with others is important for mental health, it is important to be safe and limit close contacts to your own household. Maintain physical distance from those not in your household and wear a mask or face covering.  “I am concerned about how easily the COVID-19 variants can spread and increase our numbers. I continue to urge everyone to follow public health and personal measures,” says Dr. Klassen.

To prevent the spread of COVID-19:

  • Stay home as much as possible
  • Limit close contacts to your household
  • Avoid travel except for essential reasons
  • Stay home if you have symptoms, even if they are mild, and consider getting tested
  • Wash your hands thoroughly and regularly
  • Wear a mask indoors in businesses and public spaces, and outdoors where distance can’t be maintained
