Business Owners Beauty Salons, Tattoos and Piercings
As the owner and/or operator of a beauty salon, tattoo studio or other personal service establishment, you need to follow the personal service regulations outlined in the O. Reg. 136/18 Personal Service Settings.
These regulations include what types of services are prohibited, setting requirements, inspection results and more.

Renovating, opening or adding new services
As per Section 3 of Ontario Regulation 136, you must notify Huron Perth Public Health at least 14 days before:
- Opening a personal service setting;
- Offering additional services at a personal service setting; or
- Starting construction or renovation of a personal service setting.

Public health inspections
We inspect all personal service establishments at least once a year. We also investigate all public complaints.

Public Health Ontario's Guide to Prevention Infection and Control in Personal Service Settings provides information on how to prevent and reduce the risk of infections when providing personal services.
