Public Health Nurse - Temporary Full-time

Summary:     

We have an opening for a temporary full-time (1 FTE) PUBLIC HEALTH NURSE on the Immunization Team in the Health Protection Department. This position will start July 13, 2026 and end December 31, 2026. This position will be based from our Clinton office.

Education:

  • Baccalaureate degree in nursing

Skills:            

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Able to work independently and in a team setting.
  • Clinical nursing practices such as counseling and immunization administration.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the publicly funded immunization schedule and the Immunization of School Pupils Act (ISPA).
  • Proficient computers skills, including familiarity with Windows, Microsoft office programs and use of the internet.
  • Experience working with databases (iPHIS, Panorama, EMR).

Condition

  • Terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the ONA Collective Agreement.
  • Successful candidates must obtain and maintain a satisfactory criminal record and vulnerable sector check.
  • Immunizations in accordance with Board Policy/Collective Agreements including annual influenza and COVID-19 immunizations unless medically contraindicated.
  • Successful candidates must possess and maintain a valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a safe and well-maintained vehicle suitable for carrying out duties on behalf of the employer.

Hours:

Usually 8:30 am – 4:30 pm; Monday to Friday (flexible may include evenings and weekends)

Wage:

$39-54 – $54.48 per hour

Test Shopper - Casual

Summary:     

Huron Perth Public Health is currently recruiting a casual TEST SHOPPER between the ages of 15-17 years old.  As a Test Shopper you will work with Tobacco Enforcement Officers to ensure that tobacco and vapour retailers decline selling tobacco to those under the legal age. This position will start July 8, 2026 and end December 31, 2026. This position will be based from our Stratford, Festival Square office.

Note:  It is not illegal for someone under 19 to have tobacco or vapour products, but the person who sold it to them has broken the law. 

Duties:

  • Attend mandatory training
  • Travel to tobacco and vapour product vendors with Tobacco Enforcement Officers
  • Enter tobacco/vapour vendor premises and attempt to purchase tobacco or vapour products without proof of age
  • Communicate effectively with store clerks while observing and gathering precise information suitable for evidence in court
  • Self-confidence and self-assuredness with an ability to maintain confidential information
  • Ability to think under pressure and use judgement in situations.
  • Document sales transactions in accurate written notes for use in court
  • May be required to attend court hearings.

Conditions:

  • Available to work on Avon Maitland District School Board / Huron Perth Catholic District School Board PA days.
  • Be willing and able to allow photos (of themselves) to be used as evidence.
  • Terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the CUPE Collective Agreement.
  • Immunizations in accordance with Board Policy/Collective Agreements including annual influenza and COVID-19 immunizations unless medically contraindicate.
  • Reliable transportation to and from HPPH office (Stratford).

Hours:

Hours are irregular with no minimum guarantee of hours. For summer months, we estimate up to 14 hours per month. During school months, we estimate seven (7) hours every other month.

Wage:

$24.60 per hour
