Public Health Nurse

Temporary Full-time - 2 openings (1 FTE)

Summary:

We have two openings for temporary full-time (1 FTE) PUBLIC HEALTH NURSES on the Healthy Babies, Healthy Children/Anabaptist Team. These positions will start January 2026 and end December 31, 2026. Both positions will be based from our Clinton site.

Education:

  • Baccalaureate degree in nursing

Skills/Competencies:

  • excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • excellent time management and organizational skills
  • able to work independently and in a team setting
  • proficient computers skills, including familiarity with Windows, Microsoft office programs and use of the Internet
  • effective in establishing and maintaining therapeutic relationships
  • infant feeding knowledge considered an asset
  • Healthy Babies Healthy Children home visiting experience an asset
  • Level 1 Breastfeeding Course
  • NCAST Certification (Feeding and Teaching)
  • experience working with databases [CDIS (ISCIS), Accuro/EMR]
  • experience working with the Anabaptist population (Amish, Old Order Mennonite, LGS)
    strong ability to prioritize competing pressures - ability to respond to unexpected circumstances

Conditions:

  • Terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the ONA Collective Agreement
  • Successful candidates must obtain and maintain a satisfactory criminal record and vulnerable sector check
  • immunizations in accordance with Board Policy/Collective Agreements including annual influenza and COVID-19 immunizations unless medically contra indicated
  • Successful candidates must possess and maintain a valid Ontario Driver’s License and access to a safe and well-maintained vehicle suitable for carrying out duties on behalf of the employer.

Hours: 

Usually 8:30 am – 4:30 pm; Monday to Friday (flexible may include evenings and weekends)

Wage:

$39-54 – $54.48 per hour (2026 rates)

Public Health Inspector

Temporary Full-time

We have an opening for temporary full-time (1.00 FTE) PUBLIC HEALTH INSPECTOR starting January 2026 and ending June 30, 2026. The base office for this position will be Clinton.

Summary:

The successful candidate will work with a dynamic and progressive group of professionals on a
multidisciplinary team. Public Health Inspectors on the Environmental Health Team are responsible
for:

  • Minimizing the incidence of health hazards through education, inspections and investigations under the Health Protection and Promotion Act.
  • Inspection programs: Food Safety; Health Hazard Investigation; Zoonotic Diseases; Vector-borne Diseases and Safe Water programs.
  • Enforcing activities under the Health Protection and Promotion Act.

Qualifications:

  • Hold the CPHI(C) credential
  • A bachelor’s degree in applied sciences or equivalent from an institution approved by the Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors (CIPHI) Board of Certification.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience as a Certified Public Health Inspector preferred.
  • Proficiency in oral and written communication including computer skills
  • Possesses knowledge and application of the Health Protection and Promotion Act and associated regulations.

Skills:

  • Demonstrated evidence-informed risk assessment, investigative and problem-solving abilities, and skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills, including familiarity with Windows, Microsoft office programs and use of the Internet; knowledge of the Hedgehog Inspection Database and Salesforce is an asset.

  • Terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the CUPE Collective Agreement.
  • Successful candidates must obtain and maintain a satisfactory vulnerable sector check
  • Immunizations in accordance with Board Policy/Collective Agreements including annual influenza and COVID-19 immunizations unless medically contra indicated 
  • Successful candidates must possess and maintain a valid Ontario Driver’s License and access to a safe and well-maintained vehicle suitable for carrying out duties on behalf of the employer.
