Computer Technician

Summary:

We have an opening for a full-time 1.00 FTE Computer Technician starting in July. We are seeking a skilled technician with hands-on experience in Microsoft Azure, Linux systems and Microsoft 365 services. The ideal candidate will play a key role in maintaining and improving our IT infrastructure, security and scalability of systems and services across cloud and on-premise environments. The position will be based out of our Clinton office..

Education:

  • a college diploma in an IT related field or suitable IT related certifications
  • Preferred:
    • Azure certifications (e.g., AZ-104, AZ-305)
    • Microsoft 365 certification (e.g., MS-102)

Experience, Knowledge, Skills:

  • 5+ years in an IT support role
  • Apply security best practices across cloud and on-prem infrastructure
  • Experience with networking concepts (DNS, VPN, firewalls)
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage time and priorities effectively
  • Ensure compliance with data security policies and best practices.
  • Uphold confidentiality
  • other duties as assigned by Manager

Azure Support:

  • Provide administrative support and troubleshooting for Microsoft
  • Azure environments.
  • Manage virtual machines, storage, networking, and identity services in Azure.
  • Assist in deploying and maintaining cloud-based applications and services.

M365 Support:

  • Administer and support Microsoft 365 services including Exchange
  • Online, SharePoint, Teams, and OneDrive.
  • Provide troubleshooting and resolution of M365-related issues.
  • Assist with user account management and permissions.

Linux Server Administration:

  • Manage and maintain Linux-based systems (Ubuntu, CentOS, etc.) including patching, updates, and performance tuning.
  • Troubleshoot system-level issues and provide system optimization.
  • Ensure high availability, reliability, and security of Linux servers.

VMware Support:

  • Administer VMware infrastructure (vSphere, vCenter, ESXi).

Backup and Disaster Recovery:

  • Implement, monitor, and maintain backup solutions for physical and virtual environments.
  • Perform regular backups and ensure they are successful.
  • Assist with disaster recovery (DR) planning and testing.

User Support:

  • Provide technical support to end-users regarding hardware, software, and cloud-based applications.
  • Troubleshoot issues across different environments.
  • Document technical issues and resolutions in a knowledge base.

Collaboration and Teamwork:

  • Work closely with other IT team members to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of IT projects.
  • Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in IT and cloud services. Computer Technician (Internal/External) Full-time.

Conditions:

  • Terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the CUPE Collective Agreement
  • Successful candidates must obtain and maintain a satisfactory vulnerable sector check
  • Immunizations in accordance with Board Policy/Collective Agreements including annual influenza and COVID-19 immunizations unless medically contra indicated
  • Successful candidates must possess and maintain a valid Ontario Driver’s License and access to a safe and well-maintained vehicle suitable for carrying out duties on behalf of the employer

Hours:

Usually 8:30 am – 4:30 pm; Monday to Friday (flexible, may include evenings and weekends)

Wage:

$37.35 – $45.44 per hour
