Breastfeeding Clinics and Supports
The Warm Chain of Support means that your local service providers and community members can support breastfeeding in different ways. Professional support, trained peer support, and encouraging family and community members can all support you in your breastfeeding journey. Reach out to your warm chain. See below for local supports:
Huron Perth Public Health
Call 1-888-221-2133 or email us to speak with a public health nurse about breastfeeding or infant feeding.
- Support available by phone Monday to Friday, 9AM to 4PM.
Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance
The Maternal Child program at Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance (HPHA) provides breastfeeding support 24/7. Call the Stratford General Hospital Maternal Child Unit with questions at any time at 519-272-8232, or toll-free 1-888-275-1102 ext. 8232.
HPHA Breastfeeding clinic
- Lactation Consultants are available for support by in-person appointment or by phone Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 9AM to 12PM.

- At this time, HPHA is unable to accommodate partners. If assistance is required for transportation of baby with mom to the clinic from the Main Entrance, please let screening staff know upon entry and they will be happy to assist.
Prenatal eLearning breastfeeding class
Huron Perth Public Health is not offering in-person prenatal classes at this time. However, we are offering an online prenatal course for free for Huron and Perth county residents. If you live in another county, we encourage you to contact your local health unit to learn about prenatal education in your region.
The eLearning prenatal class includes information on:
- why breastfeeding is so important for you, your baby and your family
- how to latch and position your baby
- benefits of skin-to-skin contact
- ensuring you have a great milk supply and your baby is getting enough
- recognizing when your baby is hungry
- and more!

Complete the online Prenatal eLearning Registration Form to register for the eLearning prenatal class. We will contact you to complete the registration process.
Family Health Team breastfeeding support
If your primary care provider (doctor or nurse practitioner) is part of a Family Health Team, contact them to ask about breastfeeding supports they may offer.
Breastfeeding support groups
Talking with someone who has breastfeeding experience can be helpful.

Mothers Initiating Lactation Knowledge and Support (MILKS)
Mothers Initiating Lactation Knowledge and Support (MILKS) Facebook group provides support, encouragement and links to community breastfeeding and parenting resources for breastfeeding families in Huron and Perth counties. In person groups are on hold.
