Associate Medical Officer of Health named for HPPH

Huron Perth, ON – Huron Perth Public Health (HPPH) is pleased to share that the Ministry of Health has approved the appointment of Dr. Lauren Hayward as Associate Medical Officer of Health for HPPH.

“This appointment marks an important milestone for Huron Perth Public Health and reflects Dr. Hayward’s expertise and commitment to advancing public health in our region,” says Dr. Miriam Klassen, Medical Officer of Health and CEO for HPPH.

Dr. Hayward has served as physician consultant for HPPH since 2021, including as the Director of the Population Health Department. She has also provided sexual health services with former Perth District Health Unit and HPPH, since 2017.  She brings 12 years of family medicine experience in Huron and Perth Counties, most notably as a family physician in North Perth in addition to varied clinical experience in other communities across Canada. She holds a medical degree from Western University, family medicine certification (CCFP) from McMaster University, and a Master of Public Health from University of Waterloo. Dr. Hayward also has the role of adjunct professor for the department of Family Medicine at Western University.

Dr Hayward is passionate about upstream, preventative and population-based health. She looks forward to continuing to work with the skilled and committed HPPH team and partnering with Huron and Perth communities to help improve health and well-being.
