Measles
Measles continues to circulate in Huron and Perth. For information about measles, community exposure locations, and how to protect yourself and others, visit the Measles page.
Huron Perth Public Health (HPPH) is looking for a dog involved in an incident in Listowel on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, between approximately 4:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. The incident took place in the area near Livingstone Manor, located at 480 Main Street West.
A person was walking their leashed medium to large-sized dog when the incident occurred.
International Overdose Awareness Day (IOAD) is recognized each year on August 31. It is a time to honour the lives lost to overdose, to support those grieving, and to take action to prevent drug overdoses.
This year’s campaign theme is, “One big family, driven by hope”. The theme is a reminder that behind every overdose is a person who was loved and valued, and that communities are stronger when we come together to support one another.
A bat in South Huron has tested positive for the rabies virus. This is the second bat to test positive in Huron Perth this year. Huron Perth Public Health has followed up with persons involved to prevent rabies infection.
Huron Perth Public Health (HPPH) reminds residents to protect themselves against mosquito bites following confirmation that mosquitoes collected from traps in Listowel and Mitchell have tested positive for West Nile Virus (WNV).
Huron Perth Public Health (HPPH) is looking for a dog involved in an incident on August 8, 2025, that took place approximately between 9:30am and 10:30am in the Town of Goderich. The incident took place at the intersection of Courthouse Square and Montreal Street.
A multi-day heat event in Huron and Perth is anticipated to start Saturday afternoon and will likely continue until Tuesday, according to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC). Maximum temperatures of 31°C with humidex values in the mid to high 30’s as well as overnight low temperatures near 20 °C are expected. Daytime maximum temperatures are forecast to increase on Sunday.
Blyth Veterinary Services and Huron Perth Public Health (HPPH) are once again partnering to offer three low-cost rabies vaccination clinics.

Anyone who was at this location during the timeframe needs to monitor for measles signs and symptoms for 21 days after exposure.
