August 31 marks International Overdose Awareness Day. For 25 years, this day has served as a time to remember those we’ve lost to overdose, to support those who are grieving, and to take action to save lives.

Huron Perth Public Health (HPPH) reminds residents to protect themselves against mosquito bites following confirmation that mosquitoes collected from a trap in Listowel have tested positive for West Nile virus (WNV). These are the first WNV positive mosquito findings of the season for Huron and Perth counties.

Huron Perth Public Health (HPPH) is looking for a dog involved in an incident in the Town of St. Marys on Monday, July 6, 2026. The incident occurred on Peel St., North, between noon and 1 p.m.

A multi-day heat event is anticipated to start today, June 29 and continue until Friday, July 3. Maximum temperatures of 30 to 32 degrees Celsius and humidex values of 37 to 42 are expected on Monday, June 29. Heat and humidity will increase further beginning Tuesday, with maximum temperatures of 31 to 36 degrees Celsius and humidex values of 40 to 45. Minimum overnight temperatures of 21 to 25 degrees Celsius will provide little relief from the heat. A heat warning was issued for Huron County this morning. It is anticipated that heat warnings will be issued for areas of Perth County later today.
