Car Seat

Car seats save lives—but only when used correctly. In Canada, using the right seat based on your child’s age, weight, and height is not just best practice—it is the law.

It’s always important to follow both your car seat manual and your vehicle owner’s manual when installing a car seat, to ensure it is installed safely and correctly.

Here are some considerations when using taxi or public transit:

  • Transit
    • Car seats not required—hold infants securely.
  • Taxis/Ride-Share
    • Car seats often not required but highly recommended.
  • Bring a portable travel seat or ask if the service offers one.

U.S.-certified car seats are not legal in Canada. Look for the National Safety Mark to ensure your seat meets Transport Canada standards.
