Dental Clinics and Screening

Huron Perth Public Health offers free preventive dental health services to eligible children and youth from families living with low income, and for children and youth who are identified through dental screening at school.

To focus our efforts on protecting the health of our community in response to COVID-19, we have modified our services and programs. Please see COVID-19 Response Service Interruptions for more information.

Make an appointment

Contact our Dental Team to book a dental appointment after dental screening.

If your child wasn't screened at school, you may request a dental screening by calling us to book an appointment.

If you cannot afford dental care, our team can discuss available programs and services, including Healthy Smiles Ontario.

Dental screening in schools

HPPH dental staff annually visit elementary schools in our community to provide dental screening. Parents and guardians will be notified when screening is taking place in their child's school.

Students will be screened if they're in:

  • Junior Kindergarten
  • Senior Kindergarten
  • Grade 2

We screen students in other grades in selected schools. The information that we collect allows us to assess the dental health needs of our community. We also send statistical data to the Ministry of Health annually.

Preventative dental care

Our services are available by appointment only, including:

  • teeth cleaning
  • fluoride varnish
  • dental sealants
  • oral hygiene instructions

These services are provided free to children whose families do not have dental insurance and cannot afford the cost of treatment.
