Bat in Huron County tests positive for rabies

Huron Perth, ON  ̶  A bat located in the Township of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh has tested positive for rabies. The bat was sent for testing after biting an individual. That individual is receiving rabies post exposure prophylaxis, which prevents them from getting rabies.

Heat Warning in Effect for Huron Perth

Huron Perth, ON – Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) has issued a heat warning for Huron Perth. A multi-day heat event began today, July 4, and is forecasted to end Thursday, July 6. Maximum daily temperatures are expected to be in the high twenties to low thirties with night-time temperatures in the high teens to low twenties. Humidex values are expected to reach the high thirties to low forties.

Huron Perth, ON – On Wednesday June 14, Huron Perth Public Health (HPPH) will launch Check What We Inspect, a webpage that provides health inspection reports of local food premises. These include restaurants, mobile food trucks, catering premises, grocery stores and rental halls. All food premises will be required to display the Check What We Inspect signage at the entrance to the premises.

Huron Perth, ON – Huron Perth Public Health (HPPH) is offering N95 respirators to residents who are at high risk for respiratory problems when wildfire smoke results in poor air quality. The N95 respirators and other high quality masks are being provided to public health units by the Government of Ontario.

Huron Perth, ON – Earlier this week, Environment Canada and the Province of Ontario issued a Special Air Quality Statement for many regions in Ontario, including Huron Perth. Smoke plumes from forest fires in Quebec and northeastern Ontario have resulted in deteriorated air quality. Poor air quality may persist into the weekend.
