As the world continues to try and stop the spread of COVID-19, the province of Ontario, including Huron and Perth counties, are under emergency orders that prohibit gatherings of more than 5 people. For residents of Huron and Perth marking upcoming religious events such as Easter, Passover or Ramadan, or family birthdays, celebrations will look different this spring.

Two new confirmed COVID-19 cases at local long-term care home

Huron Perth Public Health has been notified of two confirmed cases of COVID-19 in residents within a long-term care home in Stratford. Two COVID-19 cases were confirmed at Greenwood Court in Stratford within the last 48 hours. Both residents are currently in isolation and Greenwood Court is following up with close contacts of the confirmed cases. Huron Perth Public Health is working closely with the facility to provide further infection control support.

Huron Perth Public Health notified of first COVID-19 death

Huron Perth Public Health has been notified of a death in Huron Perth related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The man in his 60s had tested positive for COVID-19 earlier this month and was hospitalized at Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance (HPHA) - Stratford General Hospital site. Health Unit staff began their investigation immediately upon being notified of the man’s diagnosis and have communicated with his close contacts. All personal contacts have been in self-isolation since and continue to be monitored.

Huron Perth Public Health has received laboratory confirmation of three more cases of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) in Huron and Perth. This brings the total confirmed cases to five for our area.

The three new positive cases include:

  • Male in his 60s from Stratford who is in self-isolation at home. He has had close contact with two confirmed cases in London.
  • Female in late 40s from St. Marys who is a healthcare worker and is in self-isolation...
